Mathews DXT
I hear alot of people are disappointed with Mathews at the moment for not bring out a speed bow and kinda just sticking to the same lines of the last 4 years. It is all over the forums. In light of this though the DXT is a great little bow. With a 29.75 axle to axle, and a weight of 3.75lbs the bow is very hunter friendly. I tested the bow with the usual 29″ draw 70lbs with a 350 gr. arrow. Most short bows will not shoot as fast as their longer counterparts, but this did not factor in here. The dxt shot a 10 shot average of 307 over my chrono, faster than the 33″ drenalin. This bow is just as smooth as the drenalin and also easy to shoot. I figured with the short ata and 7″ brace height that it would not be forgiving. I was wrong! It is no less forgiving than the drenalin, only difference is I had to move the peep higher and further out than usual due to the short length. A string loop is also a must with the angle at full draw. The dxt has less hand shock than the drenalin both with and without a stabilizer and is the quietest bow that I have in the shop. Shooting some of my 375gr axis hunting arrows through the dxt still turned up a very respectable 293fps, well above the drenalin I am currently shooting. If you are looking for a bow to hunt out of tight spots with, believe this is the one to have. Go shoot one at your dealer and see for yourself. This bow is quieter and faster than the bowtech general and you dont have the gaudy string suppressor staring you in the face.

Would you consider the DXT smoother and quieter than the switchback xt? Thanks!

I wouldnt say it is any smoother, though it is just as smooth and a good bit shorter, very quiet and way faster than any xt I have shot over the chrono. Most xt’s will not break 280, much less be in the 305’s. Wouldnt consider it quieter than xt but just as quiet.

Any comments as to its’ accuracy? I had one friend say it wasn’t as accurate as his Q2 and yet another say it was deadly accurate. Also, since I’m buying a new bow within the month, any reason why you think I shouldn’t go with the DXT? And by the way, I’ll be hunting from a ground blind for antelope and treestand for blacktails. Thanks, Bob

It is as accurate as any bow. Put it in a shooting machine and it will do what any other bow will. With that being said in the hands of an actual shooter you will find that it is less forgiving than longer ATA bows but will shoot as good as you are able to shoot it. I didnt find it hard to shoot at all. Mine is quicker than my drenalin and a lot handier. Great bow for short shots out of the tree stand and ground blinds, but if I was going to do a lot of spot and stalk and longer range shooting I would go with a longer, more forgiving bow with a little more weight to help stabilize it.

I think the dxt is a great shootining bow. The one I own is very forgiving, smooth, and has little to no kick. If you are a hunter it is a great bow to have in the treestand.I also think it is an extremely accurate bow.

If ya’ll need a bow to get the job done the dxt is the one for you.

I have owned the Mathews VX Pro, Legacy,Switchback, and now the DXT, I loved shooting all of them, but I can’t say enough about the DXT, I shoot 3D league here in Wisconsin, although it seems a little less forgiving then my Switchback, it sure feels good when you release that arrow, and it hits where you aim it.

I appreciate your comment. I ended up buying one in January and have found it to be all I was hoping for: quiet, light and fast. The only thing I’m not too happy with is the fact that you HAVE to buy a Mathews quiver. It’s a great quiver (light and quiet–all good) but it’s nice to have options. I think it’s more about principle than anything else. Regardless, I’m still happy.
Thanks,
Bob

Why do you HAVE to buy a Mathews quiver?? Curious?
Thanks,

I have the quiver from my old bow on my DXT, you should be able to put any quiver you want to on the DXT, please explain.

I put my Three arrow “quicky” on my new Dxt with no problems. Only problem I had was the lack of the stabilizer insert not coming out the back for a rear mount STS. A front mount will work but I did a little machining to install a modified rear mount that looks like the bow was built with it. An STS isn’t neccesary but it did reduce noise and vibration below already low levels. Getting 300fps/28.5/350gr/66lbs. I had a Legacy and went to the bow shop expecting to buy a Bowtech after hearing alot from others, but after shooting every Bowtech and Mathews made the DXT went home with me. I’m not a competition shooter, just a hunter, and this small, light, fast, quiet, accurate bow fits my needs perfectly.
