    CarolinasOutdoor.com

As you all have already realized I’ve been away from the blog for quite sometime now. I’d like to thank each and everyone one of you for reading this blog and I hope that you’ll continue following the SkinnyMoose Bloggers as they bring you the very latest and greatest outdoor news and entertainment. I will be on and off the blog sporadically from here on out because I am tied up building and maintaining an all new message board called www.carolinasoutdoor.com ,an all new hunting and fishing forum dedicated to North and South Carolina outdoorsmen. Come join us or at least check in often to see what the folks in the Carolinas are doing in the field. Once again thanks for your support.

    I’m back

Sorry for the lack of post lately. I ended up having to go through an unexpected surgery which has had me off my feet for awhile now. I’ve been up and about for a few days now but in all honesty I just haven’t had the brain power to come up with any post that I felt would be worth reading. :) My surgery also has prevented me from attending the hog hunt I had scheduled near the Pee Dee River here in North Carolina. The rest of my group should be en route today and return sometime Sunday. Hopefully they’ll have a great trip and send some photos into Southern Adventures!!

    The Jeremy Graham Band

I know this is an outdoor related blog, but who out there doesn’t enjoy some good, down home, southern music?!!!?!!!? Whether it’s around the campfire after the hunt, in the work van during the day, or just hanging out around the house, there’s nothing like good music. I thought you guys and gals would really enjoy this band here. I’ve included a player for you all to have a little taste of what The Jeremy Graham Band is all about. They come from Augusta, Ga. and these fellas can flat out play some good music!!! Be sure to check out the show dates on their website. They will be touring several places in Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina in 2008, and they have an entire years schedule up already!! Plenty of time to take a road trip to hear some great music!! Enjoy one of their hits “Deer Huntin’ Club” by clicking play below.

    Winter Storm Warning

Well folks, it appears the south may in fact get their first dose of “Real” Winter Weather so far this season. Rush hour was dampened in Atlanta by a dusting of snow. Here in North Carolina I’ve been splitting firewood, stacking, and getting a bed of coals in the woodstove this evening. I know, I know, you folks north of us are probably laughing at the chaos a few snow flurries can cause here in the south. :)

Anyone from the south that has any photos from the “Winter Storm” send them this way. We’ll post them up!! Till tommorow, everyone stay warm and keep your fingers crossed that the kids get a day off from school and get to sled a little bit!! :)

Do you have a story tell?

With hunting season either over all together or soon to be in parts of the south, I’d like to start on a new project for the upcoming weeks/months. I am looking for harvest photos from across the south. These can be deer, hog, turkey, any small game, coyotes, hunting dogs, trapping photos, etc. Please be sure to include a name and state in which the animal(s) was taken. A brief story to be posted here at Southern Adventures would be awesome if you have time. Once I get enough submissions, I’ll be announcing the week in which I’ll begin to showcase a “Southern Trophy” a day. The contact information can be found at the top of the blog here. Hope to hear from you soon!!

    Monster Jam

    grave-digger.jpg

I know this is a hunting forum, but who doesn’t like MONSTER TRUCKS!!! :) With that said, I thought I would share some photos of the Monster Jam event that my family and I attended Saturday night at the Greensboro Coliseum. Last year we made the mistake of not getting tickets in advance. We ended up standing in line for an hour then just as we were within 20-30 people from the ticket window we hear the dreadful “SOLD OUT” come across the intercom. This year we were able to get our hands on some tickets and were in our seats an hour before the show started. Some of the trucks in attendance included Grave Digger, King Krunch, Avenger, Monster Mutt, and T-Maxx. Aside from the Monster Trucks, they had some motorcross riders, and a R/C Monster Truck race. Here are a few photos I was able to get, hope you enjoy!! Read the rest of this entry »
