Hiroki Kuroda Throws One-Hitter, Dodgers Tie For First in NL WEST

Posted by Jason A. Hendricks on July 8, 2008

Hiroki Kuroda (5-6) threw 7 perfect innings, retired 21 straight batters, and almost had a no-hitter this evening before the Atlanta Braves’ Mark Teixeira launched a double in the 8th inning, ending Kuroda’s streak.  Kuroda still came out on top as the Los Angeles Dodgers bested the Braves 3-0.

The Dodgers win puts them in a tie for first place in the NL WEST with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

On an interesting side-note, the last Dodger to throw a no-hitter was fellow Japanese player Hideo Nomo, who done so back on Sept. 17, 1996.
