Can anyone stop Michael Phelps from attaining 8 gold medals in the 2008 Beijing Olympics? Michael wrapped up his 6th world record tonight in the 200-meter individual medley and also gained his 6th Olympic Gold for the session. He bested his own previous world record by swimming a time of 1 minute, 54.23 seconds. That’s a mere .57 of a second quicker than the previous mark set at last month’s U.S. Swimming Trials.
Michael Phelps is already the world’s most decorated Olympic athlete, and at 23 years-old, he could very well contine right on into the 2012 and 2016 Olympic games-
Things are beginning to take shape for Michael to do as he previously planned: break Mark Spitz’s record of 7 gold’s in one Olympic games, which mark set back in 1972.
