Sounds like there first event was a good one. Arlovski managed to get a knockout, Bartlett did the same. Of course I had to take a double take as I ready the story on mmafighting.com this morning. You see, Tim Sylvia, former heavyweight champion also was scheduled to fight in this premier event. Tim and I have known each other since the third grade. So, needless to say whoever he fights I am in Tim’s corner. Also, as friends do, he sometimes just gets my goat. I don’t always agree with his style of fighting. I mean, he’s not the most exciting fighter in the world 95 percent of the time. I know he has taken a lot of slack and I hear people say all this stuff all the time. Even though I don’t understand or agree with his style all the time. He is a former champion, he defended that title and the man is a bad ass. I was shocked to hear he lost this fight in 36 seconds however. That Fedor I would say has to be the top heavyweight to knock Tim down and place him in a rear naked choke in that amount of time.
Tim, keep up the hard work. It’s been a rough road the last few bouts but us maniacs are still proud to have you represent us in the MMA bud.

For those interested in MLB games on tonight, check the schedule page out.
Santana will be up pitching tonight which is always good for a show. Then the game that I will be sitting in front of is the Red Sox game. Lester will be on the mound going for win number 8.
Check out the schedule and see who and where your team is playing.

Who watched the espy’s last night? I managed to miss the first half of it as I was getting ready for my wife’s birthday today and getting my son wrangled and in bed. What I did see was an interesting show. A few things that stuck out in my head that I guess I will share with you:
Did anyone notice that Danica Patrick looked super ticked each time the winner was revealed in a category she was nominated for? If looks could kill all us fans that voted not in her favor would be in a world of hurt this morning.
The New York Giants sure cleaned things up. Although, surprisingly they seemed shock when they didn’t get the “best team” award. Like they thought they had a chance over the Celtics. I mean has their been a greater turn around in a team in one year? I think not!!! On that note, I completely disagree with the Giants getting the “best game” award. Nominated was game 4 of the NBA finals. Did people not realize the comeback that the Celtics put on that night?
Justin Timberlake was fairly funny for the most part. That part where he was talking to himself, licking his lips and trying to act sexy I could have lived without though. The funniest moment was the gum on the giants Tyree helmet. Whoever came up with that gets my vote for most entertaining.
The Kevin Everett story was an awesome story. What a comeback that guy made. I am in hopes that he will sit down and share that or write a book. I’m sure there were moments he wanted to give up. The complete story in book form would be an amazing read. What an honor for that young man as well. I mean, the Jimmy V award. Has there been a more inspirational sports figure?
The story of the night for me had to be Central Washington softball team. If you remember back in April when they helped Sara Tucholsky of Western Oregon University around the bases after hitting a home run. Sara twisted her ankle turning around to tag first base, which she had missed. None of her own teammates could help without her being called out. The only option that was available to them was a pinch runner, meaning it would be a single. Then first baseman Mallory Holtman and shortstop Liz Wallace asked the ump if they could help her around. There was no rule against this so that is what these two young ladies did. Of course, this means they would lose the game. To see such sportsmanship in today’s society does my heart good. You can read the rest of the story from NBC sports.

MLB Scores
A loss last night to the sox means they were swept in LA. Then on top of that misery, the Yanks swept Oakland. Them dang Yanks are closing the gap on the sox while the Rays continue to maintain first place.

So here it is…a little rant session that i need to get out. These things I will be covering in greater detail throughout this week and so on.
First….alright already!!! I’ve heard enough about Favre and the Packers. I realize that bringing Brett back will inevitably send Rodgers running away. But, really…your going to pass up on Brett for another year, atleast?? I’m sure we will continue to hear more about this on every sports show, paper and in every locker room across the country.
Secondly, what the hell are the Celtics thinking? They let Posey go. Ainge did you forget what role he played throughout the season? If you can’t think that far back, what about the playoffs? All this over not wanting to cover ONE more stinking year. They didn’t want to take the risk for a four year contract with a 31 year old Posey. Danny, I just don’t get it. You took a chance with Cassell and we are still wondering, WHY?
Thirdly, I’m just not into this upcoming football season. You have to understand. I eat, breathe and sleep football. I have long been a Patriots fan. Long before they were considered a dynasty. I am still steaming over last year though. Not the fact they lost the Superbowl. I can accept that the Giants got the best of them for that game. But, that’s not what happened. What burns my backside is the fact they changed their game plan up. Belichick you are 18-0, apparently whatever you have been doing is working. Why, why, why change it. More so then that though. The fact they played their stupid little off field games. Where is Brady? Oh no Brady was in New York. Brady is hanging out with his supermodel girlfriend. GOOD FOR HIM!!! I don’t care though. What I care about is his on field progress. I care if he’s going to get a score on the field not off. It will be hard for me to respect them as much as I have. I don’t know, maybe it’s time to find another team that is focused on football to support.

Hey y’all. Let me introduce my blog and myself a little bit. I am super excited to get this blog up and rolling. I am a sports maniac. I love playing, watching and talking about sports. That’s what I hope to accomplish with this blog. I will bring you articles, stories, insights from pro to pee wee level sports.
I currently live in the state of Maine. Therefore, I am pretty much devoted to the New England sports teams. There are however some exceptions to that. With that said, i certainly do respect many other programs and will not be “against” say a team that many of us northerners despise. Say, oh, I don’t know…the Yankees? In all seriousness I will route against the Yanks every chance I get. Not only because they are the rival of the sox but my dad is the biggest yanks fan I know. It’s been a rival in our house since I remember.
Stay tuned as I will be bringing you lots of sports stuff. I hope to connect with other sports maniacs. Make your self known and leave lots of comments and opinions…that’s what I hope this blog will be and will certainly make this a lot more interesting.
