Single use Camera’s are a great item for your Backpack - Tails & Trails - Whitetail Deer & Turkey Hunting

Single use Camera’s are a great item for your Backpack

If you all are like me you will want to have pictures to admire later after the hunt but, you don’t want to take out your expensive camera and take the chance of damaging it. What I started to do was carry a disposable single use camera with me in my pack. There are a lot to choose from and the one that I prefer and recommend is the Kodak Zoom Camera.

With the flick of a switch you can zoom getting 35% closer. It has unbelievable clarity and with 800 speed film they come out clear and sharp. They really don’t take up a lot of space in your pack and they are very light to carry.

I will be taking a couple up with me in November when I go on my deer hunt to the north woods of Maine. If you are like I used to be you would see something when you don’t have a camera, another way they come in handy is if you keep one in your car or truck so if you are driving by somewhere and spot a real nice deer that you want to keep track of than just aim and click.

Good post. I gave up single-use cameras a year or two ago, mainly because I couldn’t zoom in. I’ll have to give the Kodak Zoom a try!

Matt, this is my first time trying a zoom camera of this type also. The way I see it, it should be better than no picture at all.

[...] Rick over at Tails & Trails has a story about throwing a disposable camera in your pack to take on your hunt. Getting good photos on your hunt is important and although disposable cameras will work my experience has been that there are some reasons to avoid them if you can. I opt for a point and shoot digital camera that I regularly use and are very familiar with. Now there is some risk of damaging or destroying your digital camera if you’re not careful. I recall a duck hunt where the camera slipped out of my pocket and fell and sunk to the bottom of the pond. My mistake and a costly one at that but a trip to REI with my replacement camera I found a Pelican Case that fit it perfectly. [...]

DEFINITELY! And make sure you take MORE THAN ONE!!! I went boar hunting in SC a few years back, and I only had 1 camera. I ended up taking a few boar, and my last one was a 300 lbs. monster. Unfortunately, I snapped all my shots on the previous boars (and those of my companions). To this day, I only have one crappy photo of this trophy.

Bryan, that is good advise. I had planned to take two but I might take three instead. I would rather have more than not enough.

Moose, thanks as well for your input As you said disposable camera’s are not top quality by any means but, I still feel they take a good picture none the less. It really is up to the person and if he feels comfortable with what type of camera he can afford. Thanks again for your thoughts and come back again.
