Intro for upcoming Hunting Log - Tails & Trails - Whitetail Deer & Turkey Hunting

Intro for upcoming Hunting Log

I got the idea for this Hunting Log from Arthur at Simply Outdoors.net and I thought I would try to do the same thing or similar.

I was unable to acquire private land this year so I will be hunting on state land. I applied for State Land Lottery and was selected for Area 18 during “A” season. I will be hunting with my 12 gauge pump action slug gun. For a state land permit of this type you receive 1 tag for a deer of either sex.

I have been hunting this particular area for the past 17 years and the spot I have selected this year is a old pond that has not had water in it for quite awhile but sees deer traffic pretty regular. To see a previous post about this exact spot I will be hunting than just click on “Pre-Season Scouting finds Acorns and Deer Tracks” and you will get the picture.

The shotgun season for me is November 14th. to November 23rd. which gives me a total of 9 days to fill a tag. Then I leave on November 25th. for a 5 day guided deer hunt with muzzleloader in Maine. When I return from Maine I have to get ready for Connecticut’s State Land Muzzleloader season which is December 5th. to December 18th. which will give me a total of 12 days to fill 1 tag for a deer of either sex.

So I hopefully will have some interesting hunting tales to tell for this year, stay tuned.
