Stillwater Area High School students track deer activity

Now this is one way to get kids involved in nature and the environment. Students were able to tag and place a radio collar on one of two deer that work caught in live traps near the Forest Lake based Wildlife Science Center in Minnesota so they can track it’s movements.

Stillwater Area High School senior Bryce Rosenbower (right) counts the heartbeat of a deer under anesthesia on Wednesday at the schools’ Environmental Learning Center. The students placed a radio-tracking device on the animal and will now study its movements.

    I think this is a really great program, and I’m really happy to read that it’s going on.

    But they sure picked an unfortunate picture… that guy at the back of the deer… what is he doing? My money says he’s getting no end of flack for this photo when he gets back to school.

    Sounds like an excellent program to me.

    Phillip took exactly what I was going to say. I thought it was funny how they described in the article exactly what the girl was doing, but didn’t say anything about what the guy was doing. Hysterical!!!

    That’s a pretty cool class project.

    I didn’t focus on the guy in the picture before. Now all I can wonder about is what exactly he’s doing, and how he drew that job.

    Phillip, They should have more of these programs around I too feel it is a great program. That guy probably got a good ribbin when he got back, your right about that.

    Arthur, lucky for the guy they did not explain what he was doing.
