Dan Haren and Jake Peavy will start for the AL and NL respectively in the MidSummer Classic. The managers for the game revealed their starting lineups and it looks like Jim Leyland is playing this game to win it. I understand La Russa has a lot of sluggers in the team, but the lineup is painful to look at. Beltran should not be batting 3rd, and Fielder should be in the cleanup spot. No reason why Wright should be batting above Utley. The only reason I came up with was that Wright’s manager Willie Randolph played for La Russa. I favour the AL this time…again.

Leyland on the other hand, is playing his guys according to their batting position on their respective teams. The lineups are as follows:

NL : Jose Reyes, Barry Bonds, Carlos Beltran, Ken Griffey Jr, David Wright, Prince Fielder, Russell Martin, Chase Utley.

AL: Ichiro, Derek Jeter, David Ortiz, Alex Rodriguez, Vladimir Guerrero, Magglio Ordonez, Ivan Rodriguez, Placido Polanco
