Shea Hillenbrand: Waived
The most exciting news on the eve of the All-Star game…is Shea Hillenbrand being waived by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim…or whatever they call themselves these days. Hillenbrand is hitting .254 with 3 HRs and 22 RBIs. I believe he is now available for pick-up by any team that wants him, and the Angels will pick up the tab: this screams of an Atlanta Braves signing.
The rumor mill suggested that the Yankees were interested in Hillenbrand but if they really think he’s the answer to revive the season then the Yanks are worse off than we think.
Seriously though, I think the Braves and the Yankees could be interested in him…perhaps the Devil Rays could sign him and then trade Pena to the Yanks for a lower-level prospect. I wonder how many teams in Yahoo Fantasy Leagues have Hillenbrand on their rosters
