Several derbies were the victims of this early thaw. Sebago Lake and The Statewide Chevrolet Derby the most notable. Over the last couple of weeks the Ice has become very unsafe. Be warned open water is everywhere. The rivers are flowing freely and the sap is running in the Maples. (Read more here.)

It is fair to say that the only good to come out of this for most is that we can save some heating dollars. Good thing since gas is over 3.00 a gallon!!! The other obvious plus for Aroostook is our deer herd caught the first break in about 8 years. This is a record low snow for us and the deer will fair better because of it.

For you winter sports..I am sorry but spring is at hand and the fishing is about to go to the fly!!!
