Dad always liked poppies and these are some I photographed at Mom & Dad’s in Maine. Dad died in the winter as in many colder areas his final burial was not till latter in the spring. I remember that day like it was yesterday it was Memorial Day 2001. I stopped that morning at the local grocery store and there was a group of Veterans collecting money for the Buddy Poppy project which I gave them some money and they gave me a Poppy. I didn’t think much about it till a few hours latter when I ran into that old veteran again as he was part of the Color Guard at the cemetery for Dad’s burial. That Poppy sits on my dresser next to Dad’s photo. I miss him so much ….

Hi I too think of Dad and poppies. I have one hanging in my car as he always would wear one in his buttonhole. They should also cause us to stop and say a prayer for the men and women who are serving around the world to protect us with the freedo we enjoy. Thanks for reminding us.
