Wpn Celebrating Three Years:”Connecting The Consumer With The Wildlife Control Industry”

    Wpn Celebrating Three Years

    trapper_robb_logo_2

It is hard to believe with this past Sep 7th just passing WpN is now three year years old.

For the naysayers, we have not ever formed a new trade association and still back our one and only trade association, NWCOA and are proud to be one of their vendor members today.

It is hard to believe that what started out as five guys wanting to share their tips and tricks with other NWCO’s into the 563 members, 165 podcasts and over 200 videos online we have today and have done it without ever charging any member access to our site and have no plans to ever do it either.

Overtime we have evolved into a network of members who are also avid hunters and fur trappers, beekeeping enthusiasts and but have always stuck to one central theme of connecting the wildlife control industry together. There are many who may argue the fit with beekeeping but so many of us do bee cut outs and live bee removals today because of our involvement beekeeping has become a strong interest area to large part of our membership.

Our current business model is to take this all to the next highest level and promote each of these industries and the people behind each of them and will begin “Connecting The Consumer Better With Our Own Industry” with a commitment to educating the public and our own members alike.

We are holding a podcast Sunday Night for all of our NWCO’s to discuss and share ideas on how to make a NWCO’s business stay solvent over a long cold, snowy winter in the deep snow up north.

The next consecutive 50 Thursdays with the exception of each 2nd Tuesday of each Month (WpN Beekeepers Night) we will be interviewing NWCO’s in each state that advertise with WpN with the state of NY this next Thursday. Still time to signup and be part of that podcast.Call and ask Robb how!

Our phone numbers have changed! Some of our web sites have changed but our commitment to promote all of you has never changed and many of you will be amazed at the changes going behind the scenes daily to not only stay competitive but be become the leading web sites about our industry.

    On oct 1st our new monthly Ezine will be part of the content at “WildlifeControl-USA.COM”and will be how we show case our industry in a positive light to the consumer and of course be linked to all of our state and local directories.;

We don’t build you a page but actually build you a web site within our site and give your business all the tools locally to grow on the internet on your own.For those who belong to the directory we do offer free web site hosting and your own personal FTP access to build your own site and connect it to our directory and a win win for those struggling to make every dollar count. Don’t want to build it yourself, ask me to build your site for you or even just just do the SEO work on your site to get the search engine rankings you need to compete as a NWCO in this new digital age.

Any questions or concerns please feel free to call me.

Rabies Survivor Teams Up With Parents Of Rabies Victim To Raise Awareness
    July 28, 2009 ·

Last month Alex Sanz, a reporter with KHOU-TV’s 11 News in Houston, Texas, filed a story about the parents of Zach Jones, a 16-year-old Humble High sophomore who died of rabies in 2006. Zach’s parents, Connie and Larry Jones, have broken their silence and in their first interview since this son’s death told 11 News they don’t want other children to suffer as their son did.

Zach was napping when a bat flew through an open window into his bedroom. Something disturbed his sleep because he awoke and brushed the bat off, telling his parents later that it had not bitten him. Five weeks later Zach’s mother said her son was sleeping more than usual, and coughing, but she attributed his symptoms to spring allergies. Then he complained that his mind didn’t feel right, but he couldn’t explain it further. The following week Zach was dead.

Teaming up with Jeanna Giese, 19, of Wisconsin, Connie and Larry Jones have launched a campaign to raise rabies awareness. In 2004, Jeanna was the first person in the world known to have survived rabies without having received a pre- or post-exposure prophylaxis rabies vaccination. Only five others are known to have survived rabies after symptoms have appeared but all had either been vaccinated prior to exposure, or received vaccine soon thereafter, and all but one of these still has persistent neurological difficulties, particularly with body movement.

San Bernandino, Orange County,Riverside , Los Angeles California Raccoons Are Out of Control

Call for a Free Price Quote 310-809-8877

Trapper Trevor, CEO All City Animal Trapping of Southern California is reporting nearly 150% increase in business this spring and have noted that urban raccoon populations are at a all time high this year and feels the following reasons for an increase this year:

    1. Well meaning residents are doing the wrong things such as leaving feed out for pets, adding Koi ponds without protection from wildlife or building them too shallow for animals to wade and treat them as their own gourmet restaurant.

    2. Homes and other structures have many access points that rather having been repaired left alone. It is a good idea to inspect yearly all soffit, fascia, and vents leading into your building and ensuring little hands can not get behind them and rip them away from the building. Flick says a lot of folks think about things after the fact and ask for the repairs when realistically his company would be happy to do these inspections annually, do any repairs or replacements and offer any animal removal services as part of his annual maintenance guarantee plan.

    3. He reminds us that feeding or even leaving water out for any wildlife intentionally is simply wrong and it only artificially creates the growth capacity of urban animals such as squirrels, opossums, coyotes, foxes, rats, mice, raccoons and many nuisance bird species in neighborhoods that lack natural living spaces for them to in inhabit. Wildlife will always meet that artificial carrying capacity with an appropriate population. This equates to more animals causing more nuisance problems by entering abandoned or poorly maintained structures.

    3. Trapper Trevor adds most of this area originally did not support these species. Much of it lacked foliage and offered only grasses and cactus. Today with urban expansion new homes have been created with lush landscaping, fruit and nut trees have been added and thus created a new environment for wildlife to flourish. Today as neighborhoods become older structures have been neglected, this new foliage has become over grown and squirrels, raccoons, mice, rats, foxes, opossums, coyotes and even exotic species first introduced into the wild by irresponsible pet owners now all call this area home . A home, Trevor repeats, 100 years ago not even a natural habitat for any of them. Today they are found in hundreds of homes in the area everyday. Trevor, states he has a special appreciation for wildlife and only believes in handling them humanely but they simply do not belong in our neighborhoods and it is now his job to bring piece of mind and animal free homes to his customers.

Not long in New York City two children and a baby fell ill and one blinded by Raccoon Roundworm disease. This is a disease no one really wants a devastating, crippling disease like it in their own yards and few know very little about it and should watch this video.

White Nose Syndrome-Devastating Bat Disease Video-5-5-2009-WNS

White nose syndrome is killing millions of bats and is predicted to continue for years to come if a solution and cure are not found. On May 5th, 2009 The Wildlife Pro Network, Wildlife Operators Forum, FWS and NYDEC go together with Craig Coon, Adirondack Dundee in Saratoga Springs New York which was part of the 13th Wildlife Damage Management Conference for a videocast this is the latest update on the white nose bat syndrome. The purpose of the symposium was for the bat researching community to get together with the nuisance wildlife control community and discuss how we can all work together in this very important bat conservation mystery.

First Wildlife Control Videocast-History Was Made Last Night

Last Night May 5, 2009, the future of our industry changed forever. The quality will need some work a few more mics and video cameras, maybe a mixer board to produce it all but history was made and we stepped into a new era. The era of video conferences eliminating the need to be present to each and every conference saving time and money and still being there.

Craig Coon, Adirondack Dundee Saratoga Springs, New York

Craig Coon, Adirondack Dundee Saratoga Springs, New York

This all came together because of Craig Coon , Adirondack Dundee of Saratoga Springs, New York, Charles Parker of Kenner, Louisiana and I was glad to be a part of it from both the idea stage and see it through. My role was supposed to be a co-host but actually a co-moderator in the chat room was about all it amounted to. Fellow Wildlife Pro Network and NPWMA members also present online Kirk LaPierre, Allison Lavalle , Charles Parker, and Maynard Stanley.

The topic, was the White Nose Bat Symposium and we NWCO’s do have a future role in collecting roost data and play a future part in trying to stop this fatal disease & may end up being part of the eventual solution if we can stop bats from being extinct in North America.

The next step is taking the conference and getting the content which is in the archives out to the rest of our industry. Craig Coon deserves all the credit both for his involvement with WNS and for asking that we try to video conference.

As it stands right now, Craig Coon is my candidate for Professional of The Year and the year still has along way to its end and he will be a hard act to follow but we will see.For those interested in getting involved with WNS data collection Craig will be announcing how all of us can get involved in the future. Craig’s email adirondackdundee@aol.com and his phone 518-584-5201.
