Wpn Celebrating Three Years:”Connecting The Consumer With The Wildlife Control Industry”

    Wpn Celebrating Three Years

    trapper_robb_logo_2

It is hard to believe with this past Sep 7th just passing WpN is now three year years old.

For the naysayers, we have not ever formed a new trade association and still back our one and only trade association, NWCOA and are proud to be one of their vendor members today.

It is hard to believe that what started out as five guys wanting to share their tips and tricks with other NWCO’s into the 563 members, 165 podcasts and over 200 videos online we have today and have done it without ever charging any member access to our site and have no plans to ever do it either.

Overtime we have evolved into a network of members who are also avid hunters and fur trappers, beekeeping enthusiasts and but have always stuck to one central theme of connecting the wildlife control industry together. There are many who may argue the fit with beekeeping but so many of us do bee cut outs and live bee removals today because of our involvement beekeeping has become a strong interest area to large part of our membership.

Our current business model is to take this all to the next highest level and promote each of these industries and the people behind each of them and will begin “Connecting The Consumer Better With Our Own Industry” with a commitment to educating the public and our own members alike.

We are holding a podcast Sunday Night for all of our NWCO’s to discuss and share ideas on how to make a NWCO’s business stay solvent over a long cold, snowy winter in the deep snow up north.

The next consecutive 50 Thursdays with the exception of each 2nd Tuesday of each Month (WpN Beekeepers Night) we will be interviewing NWCO’s in each state that advertise with WpN with the state of NY this next Thursday. Still time to signup and be part of that podcast.Call and ask Robb how!

Our phone numbers have changed! Some of our web sites have changed but our commitment to promote all of you has never changed and many of you will be amazed at the changes going behind the scenes daily to not only stay competitive but be become the leading web sites about our industry.

    On oct 1st our new monthly Ezine will be part of the content at “WildlifeControl-USA.COM”and will be how we show case our industry in a positive light to the consumer and of course be linked to all of our state and local directories.;

We don’t build you a page but actually build you a web site within our site and give your business all the tools locally to grow on the internet on your own.For those who belong to the directory we do offer free web site hosting and your own personal FTP access to build your own site and connect it to our directory and a win win for those struggling to make every dollar count. Don’t want to build it yourself, ask me to build your site for you or even just just do the SEO work on your site to get the search engine rankings you need to compete as a NWCO in this new digital age.

Any questions or concerns please feel free to call me.

Snakes & Fears … -Snake Control – Oklahoma- Texas

    Snakes & Fears,
    by Reginald Murray ,Tulsa, Oklahoma
    Oklahoma Wildlife Control, LLC
As spring draws near, or as it happens in Oklahoma and Texas … winter never really comes … we will start to see more and more activity from our cold blooded friends … the reptiles.

Snakes in particular are occasionally misidentified due in part to the “phobias” many people harbor towards them with the “Old Way” thinking that any good snake is a dead snake. This is absolutely not the case.

“The number of squirrels in your house, however, is irrelevant. One or 50, you do not want these critters in your house. At the very least, squirrels love to gnaw on wires. Champion of Entrepreneur Rights

    Tim Sandefur, Pacific legal Foundation

    Tim Sandefur, Pacific Legal Foundation

Timothy Sandefur, of The Pacific Legal Foundation was not a co-plaintiff in the Merryfield v. Lockyer case. He was the lawyer that both tried it and won it. He carried the sword and led the fight for not only the rights of Wildlife Controllers but the rights of every American citizen.

The Pacific Legal Foundation is a non-profit legal foundation that provides free legal representation to folks like Alan Merrifield, of Urban Wildlife Control In California.

    pacific-legal-foundation

The Pacific Legal Foundation defends private property rights and economic freedom in courts, seeking to establish important legal precedent that all entrepreneurs and property owners can use to protect themselves against government intrusiveness.

I personally took a special interest in this case since it spelled out to the State of California that there business regulations requiring wildlife control professionals to possess a “Branch 2 Structural Pest Control Operators’ License” to use non-pesticide techniques on pigeons, rats, and mice was declared unconstitutional. (Yet No license was required for treating other vertebrate pests, like bats, raccoons, or skunks.) This unreasonable licensing rule was designed simply to protect established pest control companies against fair competition by Mr. Merrifield, the judges held, and ruled that was not a legitimate goal for the government to pursue. Remarkably Mr Merryfield could not install spikes on a building to control pigeons yet legally could use the same spikes to control seagulls.

    alan-merryfield-1

    For a related story –>

This case affects all business entrepreneurs not just those in Wildlife Control .This momentous victory in the Ninth District Court of Appeals will effect law for years to come across the United States.

In This interview I asked Tim Six Questions:

1- Can you tell me in in your own words what the Merryfield vs. Lockyer case means to me as a wildlife control professional?

2- What impact will this law play in the lives of all Americans?

3- I have shared with you current law on the books with the State of Florida. Similar laws exist in other states like Texas. How are we NWCO’s in these states affected today?

4- What are the chances the Supreme Court can over turn this ruling?

5- What other case law should those in our industry use to affect law directed at us in the future?

6-Do you feel NWCOA-National Wildlife Control Operators Association should of joined Mr Merryfield as a co-plaintiff in your case?

The first nine and one half minutes is included on the video below. For the full interview 24 minutes please visit www.wildlifepro.net or our Podscasting host http://www.talkshoe.com/talkshoe/web/audioPop.jsp?episodeId=183587&cmd=apop

    The CWCP Program

The NWCOA Certified Wildlife Control Professional Program
    by Robb Russell

Kirk Lapierre of Rutherford, New Jersey

Kirk Lapierre of Rutherford, New Jersey

Kirk LaPierre on the Certified Wildlife Control program.

    From the NWCOA Site:

“The Certification Program is independent of NWCOA membership. An individual DOES NOT have to be certified to be a member of NWCOA. Nor is an individual required to be a NWCOA member to obtain certification.”

In the quest to maintain the highest degree of Competence, Integrity, and Service, the National Wildlife Control Operator’s Association has developed a program for professional certification. The program was designed to present a means by which NWCOA could not only recognize individuals for their hard-earned achievements, but to also provide the general public with a confirmation that they are dealing with a true experienced professional.
Those who hold the title of Certified Wildlife Control Professional have demonstrated a wealth of both “hands-on” field experience and an exposure to a variety of industry related training programs. Candidates for certification must be able to establish no less than three years of professional practice, along with a minimum of 100 credit hours of board approved training courses and seminars.
Certified operators are expected to maintain their level of professionalism by completing no less than 40 credit hours of continuing education every 5 years for certification renewal.
