So much for a third consecutive Grand Slam final between Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. Nadal came up a few rounds short at the U.S. Open — again.

Nadal is a three-time French Open champion and a two-time Wimbledon finalist, but he has yet to solve the hard courts of Flushing Meadows. He was upset in the fourth round of the U.S. Open by 15th-seeded David Ferrer 6-7 (3), 6-4, 7-6 (4), 6-2 in a match that ended at 1:50 a.m. Wednesday.

Ferrer did something one rarely sees: He ran the No. 2-seeded Nadal ragged.

After losing the next-to-last game, Nadal winced and dropped to the court, sitting with legs stretched out and head bowed.

I fell asleep watching the match last night~ totally unbelievable to wake to the news that Ferrer beat Nadal!

Ferrer’s game was on last night, and Nadal was run to pieces!

Makes the US Open exciting once again~

 I was pulling for Nadal~ he is one amazing tennis player.

Evidently it was not his to be on top yesterday~
